FDA Warns Against Using Certain Eye Drops Due to Infection Risk
The FDA has issued a warning against purchasing and using 26 over-the-counter eye drop products due to the potential risk of eye infections that could lead to partial vision loss or blindness. The products, sold under brands such as CVS Health, Leader, Rugby, Rite Aid, Target Up&Up, and Velocity Pharma, were found to have insanitary conditions in the manufacturing facility and positive bacterial test results from environmental sampling. No adverse events have been reported so far.
