Plaza Hotel to Close for Four-Year Facade Restoration Starting 2027
The Plaza Hotel will close for at least four years starting in January 2027 for a major facade restoration. The 119-year-old Fifth Avenue landmark will shut its 282 rooms, Palm Court, and event spaces until 2031. While 181 condo residents will remain in the building, they will lose hotel amenities and face years of scaffolding. The closure is expected to disrupt the luxury real estate market and force event planners to seek alternative venues.
