Surviving Hamas Captivity: Families Share Stories of Nightmare and Healing
Families of the recently released Israeli hostages have begun sharing the harrowing experiences their loved ones endured while in Hamas captivity. Many hostages were held underground in tunnels, disconnected from the outside world and deprived of basic human needs such as food and access to bathrooms. Some hostages lost significant weight due to irregular and meager meals. The psychological toll of captivity is also evident, with hostages being instructed to whisper and stay quiet. Despite the hardships, some hostages reported being treated well and conditions being kept sanitary.
