Farewell to Qatar’s Father Emir as transformative era ends
Qatar’s former emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who transformed Qatar into a global power through LNG expansion and constitutional reforms, died at 74 and was buried in Lusail Cemetery after a simple funeral in Doha; his 1995–2013 reign established Al Jazeera and left a lasting legacy as his son Tamim succeeded him in 2013.
