Millions of eggs recalled amid salmonella outbreak across 17 states
Health officials are investigating a multistate salmonella enteritidis outbreak linked to eggs, prompting Midwest Poultry Services to recall about 19 million eggs (roughly 1.6 million cartons) across 17 states, with Texas reporting the most illnesses (98 total, 26 hospitalized). Eggs were produced in Texas and distributed to retailers and foodservice (including Kroger Simple Truth and other brands). Check your eggs for sell-by dates July 20–Aug 17, 2026 and carton codes P-1950 or 0840962; discard or return recalled products. The FDA/CDCs are continuing the investigation; no deaths have been reported.
