Trump's Latest Move: Delaying Trials in D.C. at Any Cost

Special Counsel Jack Smith's prosecutors criticize Donald Trump's legal team for attempting to delay his federal criminal cases, accusing them of manipulating the court proceedings. The prosecutors filed a complaint with U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, expressing concern over Trump's lawyers' failure to disclose their motion to halt proceedings in his Washington, D.C. case. Majority of Americans Believe Trump is Guilty in Pending Cases: Survey

A Politico Magazine/Ipsos poll reveals that 51 percent of Americans, including 14 percent of Republicans and 88 percent of Democrats, believe former President Trump is guilty in both of his pending federal criminal cases. The cases involve charges of conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and conspiracy against rights, as well as mishandling classified documents. The poll also shows that about 60 percent of Americans want the trials to take place before the majority of the 2024 GOP primary elections. Additionally, a majority of respondents believe the Justice Department's charging decisions were not politically motivated, and a conviction in the trials is likely to negatively impact Trump's popularity.
