Shreveport Firearm Trace Leads to Felon Charge in Mass Shooting Case
A 56-year-old Shreveport man, Charles Ford, was charged by criminal complaint with being a felon in possession of a firearm and making false statements to federal agents in connection with a rifle used by Shamar Elkins in the April 19 mass shooting; Ford allegedly possessed the gun despite his felony status and lied to investigators before admitting he had it. He faces up to 15 years for felon-in-possession and up to 5 years for the false-statements charge, with the probe led by the ATF alongside the Shreveport Police Department, Louisiana State Police, and the FBI.
