Tristan Smith gets NCAA injunction, Clemson WR cleared for 2026 season
Clemson wide receiver Tristan Smith won a temporary injunction in Pickens County Court blocking the NCAA from denying his fifth year of eligibility, making him immediately eligible for the 2026–27 season after the waiver denial. Smith, who transferred from Southeast Missouri State, posted 24 catches for 239 yards and a touchdown in 2025. The judge ordered the NCAA to declare him eligible for 2026–27, citing a similar injunction in the Brendan Sorsby case and Smith’s JUCO background as part of the eligibility argument.
