Air Quality Alerts Issued Across US Due to Wildfire Smoke
An Air Quality Alert has been issued for most of Southeast Michigan due to elevated levels of fine particulate caused by the smoke from Canada's wildfires. The pollutants are expected to be in the unhealthy range for sensitive groups, with some hourly concentrations reaching the unhealthy level. Air quality in Detroit was ranked among the worst in the world. Exposure to elevated fine particle pollution levels can affect the lungs and heart, so it's recommended to stay inside, limit outdoor activities, and wear an N95 mask if going out.
