"Groundbreaking Fire-in-Space Experiment Set to Ignite Lunar Exploration"
NASA's David Urban, the leader of fire experiments on the International Space Station (ISS), has applied to conduct similar experiments on a robotic moon lander for NASA's Artemis program. Urban hopes to study fire-safety practices on a NASA-funded Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) robotic moon vehicle, as experiments on the ISS or the planned lunar Gateway space station would not last as long. The upcoming Saffire-VI experiment aboard a Northrop Grumman Cygnus freighter will test fire safety measures and material selection processes for future space missions.
