Under supervision during Rainier Beach killings, teen suspect tied to shooting
A 15-year-old boy accused of killing two students near Rainier Beach High School in January was under court supervision for a prior case involving a firearm in Renton at the time of the murders. He was ordered held in secure detention after a first appearance hearing, with probable cause for two counts of murder in the first degree and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm. Investigators traced the shooter through surveillance footage on buses and school grounds, and an anonymous tip helped identify him days after the killings. Warrants show his phone was connected to towers near Rainier Beach High School at the time. Prosecutors have until Friday to file charges; if charged, he is expected to appear in court Monday afternoon.
