Venice Market Admits to Mislabeling Fish Origins
Dudley Market in Venice, California admitted it lied about sourcing its fish as sustainable and lawfully procured, using sport-caught catches (including bluefin tuna) aboard a commercial vessel in 2020–2021. California law requires sport fish to be brought to port and documented when sold. The Los Angeles District Attorney condemned the deception, and the owners said they have ceased the false advertising and will comply with state and federal fishing regulations.
