FBI Arrests Irvine Realtor for Alleged Covert Surveillance of Taiwan President’s Son
Federal authorities arrested Wanying 'Heather' Zhang, a 34-year-old California realtor, at Los Angeles International Airport on October 4, 2026, as she attempted to depart for China. Prosecutors allege Zhang acted as an unregistered agent for Beijing by surveilling Ting-Yu Lai, the son of Taiwan’s president, in Seattle in September 2025. Zhang faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
