JBS to shutter Montgomery County beef plant, about 1,500 jobs on the line
JBS USA said it will close its Souderton beef processing plant in Franconia Township and its nearby MOPAC facility, with WARN notices showing about 1,485–1,500 workers affected by August 14. The closures, part of a broader growth and modernization strategy, prompted union and local officials to seek ways to keep the plants open and support affected employees, with some truck drivers being relocated to other sites.
