Six Top-10 Seeds Crumble as Fritz and Cobolli Exit US Open 2026 Week One

Six top-10 seeds fell in the first week of the US Open men’s draw, including Djokovic (4) upset by Navone in five sets; Fritz (9) squandered a two-set lead to Cerundolo; Cobolli (5) lost to Blockx; Fils (10) went out in four to Tsitsipas; Auger-Aliassime (3) and de Minaur (6) also exited by the second round. Top seed Zverev survived to reach the last 16, and with Fritz and Cobolli out the top half opens up for others, such as Learner Tien, to push deep.

Zverev overpowers injured Fritz to reach Wimbledon semi-finals

Alexander Zverev beat an injured Taylor Fritz 6-4 6-4 6-2 to reach his first Wimbledon semi-final, snapping a seven-match winless run against Fritz. With Fritz hampered by a knee issue and receiving a medical timeout, Zverev delivered a near-flawless performance on Court One and will meet Arthur Fery after Fery defeated Flavio Cobolli to reach the last four. Zverev, who won the French Open a month earlier, is two wins from a second major title as he eyes the final in the wake of Fritz’s withdrawal from his best form.
