ICE Deputized Local Police Force Doubles to 29,000 in Eight Months
A new report from FWD.us reveals that the number of state and local officers deputized by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) under the 287(g) program has doubled to over 29,000 between January 2025 and October 2026. This surge, driven by federal funding incentives and state mandates, has shifted enforcement strategies from high-profile urban raids to routine highway stops, significantly impacting immigrant communities in states like Oklahoma and Wyoming.
