Two Lives Lost in Garfield Park Shooting as Community Pays Tribute
Jassen Cho, 38, an Uber driver, and Damarion Johnson, 18, a Christ the King College Prep senior, were shot and killed around 8:30 p.m. Thursday in East Garfield Park when a grey SUV pulled up alongside their vehicle; Johnson died at Mount Sinai Hospital and Cho died at Stroger Hospital. The SUV was found burned blocks from the scene. Cook County Medical Examiner officials ruled the deaths homicides, and no arrests had been announced. Tributes poured in from community groups and relatives, while Uber said it’s cooperating with investigators.
