Gatorade Awards Track Stars with Player of the Year Honors

Angelina Napoleon, a standout track and field athlete from Allegany-Limestone, has been named the Gatorade Girls Track & Field Player of the Year. Napoleon, who holds national records in the steeplechase, was surprised with the national honor at a school assembly. She set the national high school record in the 2,000-meter steeplechase and ranks eighth in the world in the event. Napoleon is also the only U.S. woman in history to run the 800 meters in under 2:04 and the steeplechase in under 6:20. She has a 3.99 GPA and is involved in volunteer work.
