Edward Richmond Jr., a Geismar man, has been arrested and charged with assaulting law enforcement officers during the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. He is accused of using a baton to strike officers in the Lower West Terrace Tunnel. Richmond, a former U.S. Army soldier with a prior conviction for voluntary manslaughter, traveled to Washington, D.C. from Ohio with a group of people. The investigation is ongoing, and more than 1,265 individuals have faced charges related to the incident.
