Washington State Ferry Runs Aground with 600 Passengers Due to Generator Failure
Off-duty US Navy sailors stationed at Naval Base Kitsap in Bremerton helped passengers who were stranded on a ferry in Washington state after a generator on the ship failed, causing it to run aground. All 596 passengers and 15 crew members on board were rescued by Kitsap Fast Ferry vessels without injuries. The sailors, who were headed to the Submarine Ball in Seattle, helped passengers with life jackets and guided them where they needed to go.
