
Switzerland Tops the 2026 Best Countries Ranking in a Data-Driven Study
US News & World Report, partnered with the Wharton School, released the 2026 Best Countries rankings using a data-driven methodology across eight categories (governance, culture and tourism, civic health, economic development, health, infrastructure, opportunity, and the natural environment) and 24 subcategories to rate 100 countries; Switzerland topped the list, while the United States fell out of the top 10 due to uneven performance in several data-heavy categories, with the article enumerating the top 20 and noting country-specific strengths.
