Army targets fast-track for ISV-Heavy competition to power mobile command posts

The Army will release proposal requests for the ISV-Heavy in Q4 2026 to accelerate fielding of a heavy, non-developmental variant of the Infantry Squad Vehicle that can power command posts with up to 60 kW of continuous high-voltage DC power, 15 kW of 28V DC power, and 4.8 kW of 120V AC power. The effort emphasizes commercially available solutions with minimal modifications, with GM Defense as the current ISV supplier and potential competition anticipated as the Army pursues roughly 606 heavy ISVs overall (34 in FY2027). The service plans to award the contract in September 2027 and deliver the first units around January 2028.

GM and Lockheed Martin Forge Plan to Scale U.S. Defense Production

GM and Lockheed Martin announced a defense partnership to scale high-rate production of munitions, facilitated by the Department of Defense. Lockheed will invest $9 billion through 2030 to modernize about 20 facilities and supply bases, while GM plans roughly $7 billion in U.S. R&D. The collaboration is in early stages under a memorandum of understanding and aims to improve production readiness, strengthen supply chains, and apply advanced manufacturing techniques, against a backdrop of White House discussions with GM and Ford about bolstering domestic defense capacity.
