Grand Prairie ISD Halts 'Little Shop of Horrors' Over Gender-Casting Dispute
Grand Prairie Independent School District canceled a scheduled production of 'Little Shop of Horrors' at South Grand Prairie High School after a female student was cast in the lead male role. The district cited compliance with Texas Senate Bill 12 and concerns regarding the musical's depiction of an abusive relationship. The student and her family plan to appeal the decision to the school board and potentially pursue legal action, arguing the law does not apply to this specific casting choice.
