Grayslake CFO and Mother of Seven Fatally Struck by Freight Train
The Lake County coroner identified 60-year-old Virginia Girmscheid of Grayslake as the woman fatally struck by a freight train while riding a bicycle in downtown Grayslake. An autopsy found blunt-force injuries consistent with a train strike; investigators from Metra Police closed Lake Street and Hillside Avenue as the probe continues. Girmscheid was a finance executive and mother of seven, formerly CFO of Stepping Stones Network, and she leaves behind her husband and seven children.
