By Any Means: A Star-Studded Civil Rights Drama Faces Family Backlash and Critical Praise
Paramount's 'By Any Means,' starring Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, dramatizes the 1966 murder of civil rights leader Vernon Dahmer and the FBI's use of mob informant Gregory Scarpa. While critics praise the film's historical context and Abdul-Mateen II's performance, the project faces backlash from Dahmer's family over its depiction of events. Wahlberg's heavy prosthetics and the film's controversial 'buddy cop' structure have drawn sharp criticism for undermining its serious subject matter.
