
Journalist Behind Putin-Kabaeva Revelations Dies in Latvia from Suspected Mushroom Poisoning
Grigory Nekhoroshev, a Russian journalist who reported on Vladimir Putin’s alleged relationship with Alina Kabaeva, died in Riga, Latvia on June 19 from a suspected poisoning by false honey mushrooms; he had lived in Latvia as a political refugee since leaving Russia after the Crimea annexation. Nekhoroshev, former editor of Moskovsky Korrespondent, previously published a 2008 piece alleging Putin planned to divorce his wife and marry Kabaeva; Putin has denied the relationship.
