25 Years After 9/11: Survivors and Responders Reflect on Enduring Grief and Justice
On the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, survivors and first responders across the United States marked the milestone with ceremonies and personal reflections. John Grote, an Iowa Army National Guard major who helped rescue victims at the Pentagon, returned to Arlington for the first time in years, while other responders shared memories of the immediate aftermath. The anniversary highlighted ongoing struggles with survivor’s guilt, the long wait for justice in terrorism trials, and the enduring impact of the attacks on military service and public safety.
