About 70% of the world's supply of gum arabic comes from Sudan, and companies like Coca Cola and PepsiCo have long stockpiled supplies to avoid being caught short. However, current stockpiles are estimated to run out in five-to-six months, and trade in the gum has ground to a halt due to the conflict. Suppliers are struggling to secure necessities, and customers are looking for alternative countries to source gum arabic.
