DOJ: WHCD Shooting Was Not Friendly Fire; Suspect Charged
Investigators say a gunman fired a shotgun at the White House Correspondents' Dinner outside the Washington Hilton; the round that struck a Secret Service officer was not friendly fire, and five other shots were fired by the officer, who was hit in his vest, possibly by a cellphone tucked in a pocket. The officer was not seriously hurt. The suspect, 31-year-old Cole Allen, was arrested on scene and charged with attempting to assassinate the president and related offenses; the DOJ/ATF investigation continues.
