Hall of Fame Overhauls Voting Rules After Belichick Snub
The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced sweeping bylaws changes for the Class of 2027, including eliminating the seniors category and reducing the selection committee from 50 to 28. The new process puts all eligible candidates into a single pool after a five-year retirement, expands contributor eligibility to the full football résumé, and finalizes a 15-person slate (13 players, 1 coach, 1 contributor) with a single presenter per finalist and no automatic carryover of previous finalists. The reforms aim to curb biases in the election and will be tested in 2027, when the first-year eligible stars like Ben Roethlisberger, Rob Gronkowski and Adrian Peterson are in contention, following Bill Belichick’s high-profile snub.
