Five pivotal frames retell the Norman conquest in the Bayeux Tapestry
The BBC highlights five key scenes from the 70‑metre Bayeux Tapestry that narrate the Norman conquest: William arming Harold, Harold’s anguished oath to William, Harold’s later claim to the English throne, Halley’s Comet as a ominous omen, and Harold’s death by an arrow at Hastings (with ongoing debate about the arrow’s depiction).
