Moreno resurrects Reid-era birthright plan to pressure Democrats on citizenship
Sen. Bernie Moreno, R-Ohio, plans to circulate a Reid-era bill that would sharply curb birthright citizenship and overhaul immigration by tightening who qualifies for citizenship, arguing it exposes today’s Democratic stance and challenges them to vote on it after the Supreme Court ruling; the proposal would modify the language about being “subject to the jurisdiction of” to exclude many children born to non-citizens or those in the country temporarily.
