Smoke and haze from Canadian wildfires have reached the eastern United States, causing hazardous fine particles to degrade air quality in regions as far away as South Carolina. Over 400 active fires have been reported in Canada, with almost 250 listed as "out of control." The wildfires have been intensifying since last month.
