SteamOS update signals Steam Machine readiness with HDR, VRR, and faster patches
Valve released a SteamOS update that adds initial Steam Machine support and brings a batch of display and performance tweaks: faster future OS updates on high‑speed connections, improved USB device compatibility, external HDR/VRR display support, better TV scaling and Desktop mode performance, and GPU driver stability improvements. It also updates Steam Deck LCD/OLED BIOSes (LCD hibernation prep; OLED charge light at a user-set limit) and broadens compatibility with recent Intel/AMD platforms plus vRAM management. Patch notes are live, with mixed user feedback and no prep for Steam Frame announced.
