Saxophonist Behind The Pink Panther Theme Dies at 94
Plas Johnson, the US jazz saxophonist famed for the tenor solo on Henry Mancini's Pink Panther Theme, has died in Granada Hills, Los Angeles, at age 94, just days before his 95th birthday. A prolific session musician, he recorded with Mancini and other icons including BB King, Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole after moving to Los Angeles in 1954.
