A Summit County physician, Christine Ebert-Santos, has published Surviving and Thriving at Altitude, a guide offering practical tips for recognizing and treating altitude-related illnesses such as high-altitude pulmonary edema. The book, co-authored with Roberto Santos, covers risks even for residents at elevations over 9,000 feet, including reentry sickness after travel to lower elevations, and discusses treatments like home oxygen and using a pulse oximeter.
