Netflix Unveils First Look at A Different World Sequel’s Hillman Freshmen
Netflix released first-look images for the A Different World sequel, which follows a new generation of Hillman College students led by Deborah Wayne, daughter of the original series characters. The ensemble includes Alijah Kai, Cornell Young IV, Jordan Aaron Hall, Kennedi Reece, and Chibuikem Uche, with original stars returning in supporting roles. Debby Allen will write and direct three episodes, with Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood among the executive producers. The project began development in 2024, had a Netflix pilot order in March 2025, was picked up to series in November 2025, and it will premiere on Sept. 24 on Netflix.
