The Hinman Speech documents, which relate to the SEC's internal discussion and deliberations around a 2018 speech from former SEC corporation finance division director Bill Hinman stating that Ether (ETH) was not a security, are expected to be released publicly by June 6, according to defense attorney James K. Filan. While the SEC filed a motion to seal the documents from the public, Ripple Labs notched a win this week after the motion was denied on May 16. Ripple views the documents as an important piece of evidence in its defense against the SEC's assertions that XRP falls under the classification of a security.
