Chiefs Unveil 2031 Enclosed Stadium Plan With 70,000 Seats
The Kansas City Chiefs released renderings for a $3 billion, fully enclosed 70,000-seat stadium in Wyandotte County, Kansas set to open in 2031. Lead design architect is MANICA with HNTB as architect of record, plus CAA ICON as owner's rep. The design preserves Arrowhead-inspired lines, enhances fan experience with a Drum Deck and expanded Chiefs Hall of Honor, and adds pedestrian plazas and a major mixed-use development. Financing is a public-private partnership with STAR bonds and no new state taxes. Construction is projected to generate about 36,500 job-years and $8.2 billion in economic impact, with about $1.5 billion in annual impact once operational.
