Ruffalo’s Failed Apology Bid Sparks Open Letter Defense as ADL Rebukes Outreach
Mark Ruffalo attempted to arrange an apology for his recent social media posts criticizing the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger, but the effort collapsed after ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt refused to assist. Ruffalo’s posts, which linked Oracle founder Larry Ellison to military actions in Gaza, drew accusations of antisemitism from Paramount and industry groups. In response, over 170 Jewish figures signed an open letter defending Ruffalo, arguing that his critique targets corporate power rather than Jewish people. The dispute has polarized Hollywood, with some figures calling the accusations a smear campaign and others labeling the rhetoric as antisemitic tropes.
