Pfizer widens PARP advantage in prostate cancer with Talzenna-Xtandi combo
Pfizer reports phase 3 Talapro-3 showing adding Talzenna to Xtandi cuts radiographic progression-free survival risk by 52% in HRR-gene–mutated metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer, with benefits across BRCA and non-BRCA subgroups. At three years, PFS favored the combo (77% vs 56%), and interim overall survival trended 23% higher. Safety was mainly anemia; 51% grade 3+ in the combo vs 3% in control. The results contrast with J&J’s Akeega, whose benefit was driven largely by BRCA2 mutations, suggesting a broader potential patient population after genetic testing.
