Black bears spotted and captured in urban areas.
A juvenile male black bear was captured in Northeast Washington, D.C. after prancing through lawns, climbing up trees, and running away from animal control. The bear was eventually tranquilized and transported to Maryland to be released. It is rare to see a bear in the District, and it is unclear where the bear came from or what route it may have taken into the city.
