Oregon IP 28: Hunting and fishing ban won't hit November ballot
The Oregon Secretary of State determined IP 28 failed to gather enough valid signatures to appear on the November ballot (142,000 submitted; 104,262 valid; 117,173 required). The measure would have redefined animal cruelty, banned hunting and fishing except to prevent harm, and created a transition fund and oversight council, but faced broad opposition from lawmakers and Gov. Tina Kotek. As a result, it will not be voted on this November.
