Deadly Attack on IDP Camp in DR Congo's Ituri Leaves Over 40 Dead
More than 40 people have been killed in an attack on an IDP camp in Ituri province, DR Congo, by fighters belonging to the militia group, Cooperative for the Development of the Congo (CODECO). The group claims to protect the Lendu community from the Hema ethnic group and the DRC army. CODECO has frequently targeted displacement camps, and the victims will be buried in a mass grave. The country has the largest population of IDPs in Africa, with at least 5.6 million having fled their homes due to fighting.
