Tolle Fires Nine-Pitch Immaculate Inning for Red Sox
Payton Tolle delivered an immaculate inning by striking out Nick Loftin, Bobby Witt Jr., and Jac Caglianone on nine pitches in the first, the first Red Sox pitcher to do so since Chris Sale in 2021. The left-hander needed only nine pitches and seven swinging strikes to dominate the Royals, coming after a prior strong outing with 12 strikeouts against the Orioles, and highlighting his rising role in Boston’s rotation during a season that has seen him establish himself as a key young arm at Fenway Park.
