Ukraine's Strategic Advantage: Captured Russian Vehicles Fuel Counteroffensive
The Ukrainian army has acquired dozens of ex-Soviet IMR-2 armored engineering vehicles, which are old T-72 tank chassis equipped with cranes and dozer blades. While less sophisticated compared to Western engineering vehicles, the IMR-2s are reliable and readily available. Many of these vehicles were left behind by the collapsing Soviet Union in 1991, and Ukraine has also captured several from Russian forces during the ongoing conflict. The IMR-2s are being used to recover immobilized vehicles, clear mines, and assist in breaching enemy defenses.
