China and Egypt conduct first J-16 vs. Rafale air combat drills amid India’s massive fighter expansion
Chinese J-16 and Egyptian Rafale jets engaged in simulated one-on-one combat for the first time during the 'Eagles of Civilization 2026' exercise on August 23. This marks a significant training milestone for the PLA Air Force, allowing them to benchmark their aircraft against a Western platform operated by India. The event occurs as India pursues a $20 billion deal for 114 additional Rafales, while Egypt considers acquiring Chinese J-10C fighters.
