Toys for Bob Partners with Xbox for First Indie Game

Former Activision studio Toys for Bob has partnered with Xbox to publish its first game as an independent entity. The studio, known for Spyro the Dragon and Crash Bandicoot games, is in early development stages for the new project. Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story is an interactive documentary that showcases 43 classic games from the career of Jeff Minter, an iconic figure in indie game development known for his unique blend of classic arcade games, trippy psychedelia, and ungulate animals. Playing all 43 games in chronological order revealed the evolution of Minter's design ideas and signature quirks, from crude early games to sophisticated and technically brilliant shooters. The collection, while illuminating, ends abruptly in 1994, leaving out Minter's later commercially available games. Five standout games from the collection include Gridrunner, Hellgate, Colourspace, Revenge of the Mutant Camels 2, and Tempest 2000.
