China's Leaders Vow to Boost Internal Drive for Economic Growth
China's top leaders, led by President Xi Jinping, said at a meeting that the country's economy still lacks "internal drivers" and domestic demand is insufficient, despite better-than-expected GDP growth of 4.5% in Q1. The meeting also called for boosting people's income sources and improving employment, especially for university graduates, as the unemployment rate for people ages 16 to 24 rose to 19.6% in March. The meeting also emphasized the need to develop new energy vehicles, AI, and pay attention to the prevention of risks.
