Identifying the Causes of Solar Performance Issues.
A report by HelioVolt has found that 62% of inspected solar projects in the US had critical or major issues, with 91% of major issues found in DC distribution components. The report found that inverters were rarely the root cause of downtime, with most issues located within the DC distribution section. Over 33% of failures in this system were due to field-made PV connectors, while wire management issues were the second cause of failures and safety issues. The report recommends five best practices to ensure a more reliable, productive, and safe solar facility.
